One membership, four fitness facilities, two pools, two squash courts, six basketball/multipurpose courts, 100's of fitness classes, personal training, a rock wall, pickleball,and more. New York University Athletics' fitness membership grants access to all of this (and then some) with 2023-24 rates now available.
NYU boasts three fitness centers throughout lower Manhattan, in addition to a location in Downtown Brooklyn. The brand new, state-of-the-art John A. Paulson Centerat 181 Mercer Street is now open and features four basketball/multipurpose courts, two squash courts, a pool, and a cardio room. The Paulson Center also houses NYU's new aquatics offerings, including Beginner I, Beginner II, Deep Water Power Works, and Master's Swim programs.
New workshops are being rolled out this semester as well, including Barbell 101 and Advanced Barbell. Newly-introduced personal training offerings, along with the option to request small group training, are also available with customized plans and programs. Additionally, the full slate of free drop-in classes is still being finalized but will offer a wide range of programming forthose looking to participate, expand-upon, or try a new form of activity moving toward their health and wellness goals.
Open swim in the Paulson Center pool and open gym for pickup basketball and/or volleyball at the Paulson Center, Palladium Athletic Facility and Brooklyn Athletic Facility is also available throughout the week. Of course, all four of NYU's facilities offer fitness centers for members' general workout needs and open as early as 6:00 a.m.
Open Houses will be available at 404 Fitness and Palladium Athletic Facility starting on Tuesday, September 5,through Friday, September 8,from opening until 8pm, and Saturday and Sunday, September 9-10, from opening until 12pm. Additional Open Houses will be available at the Paulson Center and Brooklyn Athletic Facility later in the month.
404 FitnessLocated at 404 Lafayette Street in Manhattan, the 404 Fitness athletic facility serves the University community with a wide range of cardio and strength equipment, as well as a limited offering of recreational programs.
The main portion of the facility is dedicated to a comprehensive range of strength and cardio machines. Additionally, there's a Dance Studio utilized for recreational classes and a multipurpose room. This destination is perfectly suited for individuals seeking an all-encompassing fitness journey.
The facility also includes a lounge area, locker rooms complete with free daily issue and rental lockers, anda membership office.
Palladium Athletic FacilityLocated at 140 East 14th Street near Union Square, the Palladium Athletic Facilityincludes a 3,140-square-foot weight room complete with free weights, plate-loaded machines, and selectorized machines. On the lower level is a 3,433-square-foot aerobic fitness room dedicated to cardio equipment, including powermills, treadmills, elliptical trainers, arc trainers, and stationary bicycles.
The main courtcan be used for either volleyball or basketball. As a regulation-sized basketball court housing six baskets, it is suitable for both half- and full-court play. The auxiliary gym is outfitted with stretch mats and progressive fitness equipment, such as medicineballs, stability balls,body bars, and light dumbbells,making it the perfect haven for your own workout space and recreation classes.
Brooklyn Athletic FacilityThe Brooklyn Athletic Facility is located at Six MetroTech Center in Downtown Brooklyn. The Aerobic Fitness Roomincludes a full circuit of selectorized plate-loaded weight training machines, medicine and plyometric stability balls, stretch mats, foam rollers, and an open area that can be utilized for stretching or calisthenics.Located in the lobby level of the Jacob's Academic wing, the 8,000+ square foot gymnasium contains a regulation-sized basketball court that is generally available for free-playbasketball. In addition to this, other free-play activities that are occasionally scheduled for the space include futsal, volleyball, table tennis, cricket, and badminton.
The 3,300+ square foot Physical Fitness Room hosts all of Brooklyn Athletic Facility's strength- and weight-training equipment. It includes adjustable benches, free weights ranging from 1 to 100 lbs., plate-loaded cable column equipment, weighted barbells, and combo racks to satisfy a vast array of weightlifting exercises.
John A. Paulson CenterThe Paulson Center at 181 Mercer Street has two levels dedicated to sports and recreation, which include a pool, a four-court field housewith seating, cardio and weightlifting equipment, martial arts rooms, and squash courts.
As the new home for NYU's men's and women's varsity basketball and volleyball teams, the Paulson Center is a state-of-the-art athletics facility located near the heart of campus. Brand new locker rooms and numerous spaces for recreational offerings bolster the membership experience. Aquatics offerings, squash courts, and a dynamic four-court field house provide countless opportunities for members to find new ways to be active.
