Synopsis
Peter Wilcox, as skipper of the 'Rainbow Warrior', a Greenpeace ship, docks in Auckland, July 1985, preparing for a protest against French nuclear testing in the south pacific. When a bomb rips open the vessel, killing a crew member, he must convince the police superintendent that this is an act of terrorism. Determined not to allow outside forces to threaten their harbor, the police embark on a pursuit of the persons responsible. The events that follow nearly bring down an allied nation's government.

Review by Jay D 's Watching ★★½
Made-for-TV meat and potatoes procedural about the tragic bombing of Greenpeace's Rainbow Warrior, and the death of Fernando Pereira by the French government to prevent protesting against nuclear testing in the South Pacific -- Jon Voight feels a bit like a missed opportunity, although Sam Neill does a good job (and does the closest thing to speechifying), and while the direction is workmanlike and the story essentially goes from point A to B to C in recounting events, the tragedy is a vital one, and highlights the ease with which change in paradigms can ripple outward internationally from events that are dismissed at first by the powers that be, the bombing not just being taken as an act of aggression…

"Our guests are gone, but they are not forgotten."
not really a "good" movie (whatever the opposite of talent is, jon voight has a LOT of it) but it has heart and anyways is it not enough to see sam neill saying, on multiple occasions, fuck the french government? AND implicitly saying fuck the american and british governments as well??

I do not like Jon Voight, but he is countered by Bruno Lawrence and Sam Neill so it's all ok in the end because they showed those evil Frenchmen

Very enjoyable tv movie that I found in the cheap dvd bin at aro video. Straightforward police procedural that makes the job look pretty boring (which it is) while covering a pretty major historic incident in our recent history. A slew of great nz actors and also jon voight is there.

It’s pretty basic stuff, but none the worse for that. Intrigued that Lawrence is playing the same part he played in the earlier mini series and this current autistic obsession will undoubtedly lead me to eventually watching and comparing the performances. Even more intriguingly the character he plays also became an actor which adds another interesting wrinkle
