I really didn't think a romance book was what I wanted to read because I desire more mystery and action packed novels. Yet, I love all things Scottish and Irish. It was a pleasant surprise to peruse this novel full of Irish extra-steamy romance. A reporter, Tara, plans to do a damaging in depth news expose for Brian, a very confirmed bachelor and an entrepeneur who is known as ruthless. Add to that a further twist because Tara gets the ladies of the village to agree to a pact that they will boycott their boyfriends until they propose marriage. One of the ladies has been going with her guy for too many years. There haven't been any marriages in this bucolic Irish village for far too long. The whole read was funny, engaging and perfect for a virtual visit to Ireland.

One of my all-time favourite contemporary romances! Tara Brid O'Connell, a reporter, comes to Kilbooly, hometown village of Brian Hanrahan, one of Ireland's richest and most visible playboys. Since the homeboy keeps close ties to the old stomping grounds, she has come to seek out information to bring the Brian down. He has built factories all over Ireland, and in his wake the towns are utterly destroyed. All that was Ireland lost to the flood of MacDonalds Hamburger joints. However, Tara finds a second story, revolving around the Brian. It seems there has been no marriages to speak of for nearly a decade in the town, because all his old pals worship on the altar of "the Brian". If he gets a free ride with the ladies, why should not they? Tara finds on Ladies Night at the pub, there is not only a lot of grumbling, but a conspiracy brewing, and she is not above egging these angry ladies on in the name of a good story that centres around the Brian. So they females decide on a boycotte, cutting the men off from all creature comforts, no cooking, to company, no laundry and no....well, you can guess. Of course, there is the Brian's feisty grandmother, who has decided it is time the free-roaming bachelor settle down and produce her grandchildren before she dies, and see the perfect candidate in Tara Brid. Not many books can cause me to laugh out loud, but this one did repeatedly. I highly recommend it!! I read this book eight years ago, and loved it. Have it on my keeper shelf ever since.

Super cute, very early 2000s rom-com vibes. The quirk and humor and heart reminded me of Leap Year (2010, Amy Adams, Matthew Goode). Just a nice, lighthearted read.

There aren't many books I've encountered with an Irish theme, and I was getting in the mood for St. Patrick's Day, so I decided to give this a read, since it's been in my TBR pile for *hangs head* a very long time. Disclaimer: I'm personally acquainted with the author, although I *bought* this book. It's a fun, light and funny romance set in the small (fictional) Irish town of Kilbooly, where the women have decided to hold a Bachelor Boycott to spur the men of Kilbooly to close the deal. Tara O'Connell, TV reporter, stumbles upon the story while working on an expose of Brian Hanrahan, the town's richest bachelor. Of course, being a romance, there's attraction, there's smoking hot sexytimes (don't read this is you're looking for chaste kisses), and misunderstandings and obstacles that give way to a Happily ever after, not only for Tara and Brian, but a few other couples, as well. The writing is smooth amd the humor interwoven in is delightful.

**MINOR SPOILERS** this book was great. the whole idea was fun, from the "boycotting" of the men to the elements that brought Tara and Brian together. the boycott fallout was especially hilarious, such as Tommy having to do his own wash and turning his white church shirts pink after washing his favorite red top with them--then having to wear the pink shirt to mass!, the salted stew, Jack the cat, and Crissy and Rory's sneaking around that led them to be the surprise couple the others didn't know about. and Brian's grandmother totally stole the show. a winner!

The second book in the series Irish Eyes. I read for March Irish challenge in one of my groups. It was a light fun read and I really liked it.

Good Irish romance, humorous, entertaining village, and a mild mystery, not of a murder, but of goings on in the town ... very enjoyable read!
